Awakening into Oneness

This week our Inspired Minds event features Gaynor Foster, a Oneness Blessing Giver. The Oneness Blessing is something magical as far as I am concerned. I first became aware of it when I read a book called Awakening into Oneness. Arjuna Ardagh described the movement started in India called Deeksha or Oneness Blessing. The blessing itself is a transference of divine energy from the blessing giver to the recipient into the brain neurons. I first experienced a blessing in January and was left with an inner feeling of deep peace as well as a reduction in internal anxiety levels. Since January I have received a few more blessings, and each one has made an impact to the way I experience my day to day world.

Creation and Passion

Inspired Minds is coming up to its sixth anniversary - not in years, but months. What a journey I have been on as the idea and business has taken shape. I have had moments of sheer bliss and moments of sheer fear. Moments when I have not wanted to 'own' it or my role in its creation and moments where I have wanted to shout from the rooftops with glee. Why do you need to know this you may be asking?
Well, a couple of weeks back we had the privilege to listen to Will Elrick speak at the June Inspired Event. Will's story is heroic at many levels (click on the link to read, see and listen to the detail!)
But, what I got from his talk was that no matter what we create in our lives we will experience the full range of human emotions. The difference is that when there is a deep passion for an activity, be that a business, a physical sport, a hobby or a relationship, we can use the highly charged energy from emotional swings to stop, listen, adjust and then continue.
So in the context of creating Inspired Minds I feel myself relaxing into the process, accepting that everything I feel is providing me with more information and giving me another opportunity to refine an idea that I am passionate about.

….. a night of inspiration!

Hello, this is my very first blog entry and it is long overdue.

My name is Matthew Brine and I am a Director of Inspired Minds. The purpose of this blog is to give you the opportunity to share with the Inspired Minds Community what is happening in your life. The good stuff and the “not so” good stuff. The intention of Inspired Minds is to empower people in their lives through:

1. The material we provide and
2. The events we run
   

We want to hear whether we are fulfilling this intention. I think it is essential that we are able to express ourselves as we go through our individual journey’s and it is through our interaction with others that we get clear on what it is we want and what we are achieving. So on that note I would like to tell you all about our first Inspired Event.

On May 14^th we officially launched our first Inspired Event at the Dendy Opera Quays. Over 100 people came to see the spine tingling academy award nominated movie “As is it is in heaven”. We selected this movie as our main feature for the April Community pack as it is so dear to our hearts.

I was left emotionally exhausted but filled with Inspiration and delight, for the 2^nd time! For me the movie captures life so perfectly, the pain, the beauty, the anger, the love and so much more. And the amazingly talented Marissa Dikkenberg’s moving rendition of “Gabriella’s song” just capped off a fabulous evening. I am sure there were very few dry eyes left in the theatre!

Our pledge is to support a community organisation at every Inspired Minds event. The community partner we supported at the event was “Gamarada” an organisation healing men through spiritual programs in Redfern and Glebe. As a result of the evening we were able to make a donation in the form of book vouchers to the value of $230. The men participating in their programs are men with troubled pasts and lives full of remorse and regret. What struck me during the movie was how easy it is to blame the men in domestic violence situations; it is natural to attack the perpetrator of the crime. During the movie I became aware of the pain that Gabriella’s husband was going through…. How difficult it was for him, how trapped he was, without support, without compassion in a community where people were afraid of him. Yes he had created the situation he found himself in but he was stuck in a situation he had very little chance of breaking free from!

This made me feel even more Inspired and grateful to “Gamarada” and other similar organisations out there providing this crucial support, giving these “forgotten men” a chance to triumph over their past!

Martin Luther King - I Have a Dream

April 4th is the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King's death. As I was working with my two fellow directors Richard and Matthew creating Inspired Minds, the words of Martin Luther King's famous speech - I Have a Dream kept playing over in my mind.
Not that I know all the words, its more the promise and inspiration of the words for all of us on earth.
Words like "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." and "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."
I believe that each of us "has a dream" ... a dream that is our mission is on this earth. Sadly, what I see around me is that with the busyness and stress of modern life many of us forget our dream, or dismiss it because of tribal and cultural norms and expectations.
How about today we honour the legacy of Martin Luther King and reconnect with our individual dream. Then take the time to put your dream into action. I would love to hear how you go - so drop me a line.
